Hooray, hooray I'm a real writer, I can do it, woo woo and so on. I've spent the whole day writing and have got to the half-way mark a day early. Phew. Exhausted but ready to celebrate. Got to get ready now to go out tonight. Can't decide what to wear, if it wasn't raining I might do a P!nk and wear a skimpy dress with heavy boots. But don't fancy trolling around town in a tiny dress tonight. We'll see. At least now I don't have to get up tomorrow to write desperately and will be able to just do a bit maybe in the afternoon when my hangover has died down.
Gotta go and get dressed, but not before I post my wordcount on nano. Wooooooo!!!

Well, I'm finally back on target and hopefully now will have a bit of time to catch up properly. Got tomorrow off work, tho' I'm out tomorrow evening at said Hen Night. May not be up to much writing on Saturday morning.
I've got my chapters all mixed up, now I'm on chapter six but haven't written five yet. I'm skipping anything that I have to think about; anything that'll take time to research. That can get worked on in December. Anything I want to change I'm sticking in red.
Got sick last night so I didn't write this morning, and this two thousand has been bashed out over the last five hours with a break for a KFC. What trials and tribulations we nanowrimoers go through for our art - now I'm living on takeaways.

Subject: got the week two blues.
Seems at the moment that no matter how much I write, I can't get back to target. I got up early again this morning and managed 750 words but it all seems so much effort. Maybe it was that night shift but I just feel knackered all the time. Had to do my exercises for the MA tonight and was planning to write again to my God daughter as she wrote back, but will have to leave that now till tomorrow. I've only just got the energy to drag myself up to bed.
Got a hen night to go to on Friday, how am I going to manage? I'll be a bundle of laughs in the state I'm in.

Subject: at last, some real writing time.
Feeling gloomy because I'm writing a depressing bit of the book. But feeling ok about getting some writing done at last. I slept like a log last night, but it takes a while for the night-shift feeling to wear off and I'm a bit crappy today. Dark rings under eyes etc.
I often take writing with me to work for night shifts, but as it has to be done by hand it is usually letters, short stories or editing printouts. I wrote a letter to my god daughter on that shift, but spent most of the night reading - "The Wives of Bath" by Susan Swann, quite the best book I've read in a long time, and scarily similar to my novel. But I won't let that put me off, there's nothing new under the sun and there are enough differences to make mine original.
Isn't that always the way, though? As soon as I feel I have an original idea and start working on it, suddenly I see a whole load of other things related to the theme or plot. It happened with Isabelle - I wrote it two years ago, just before the first 'Harry Potter' film and now it's so passe to have a child who is a witch. My rejections are saying things like, "Well this isn't very original" - makes me want to scream, "It would have been if it had been taken up two years ago!"
So anyway.
I'm doing a seminar tonight on Cunningham's The Hours so may not have much time to write later, but at least I'm above target now. And I may have the energy tomorrow morning to get up and write before breakfast.
Chapter 2 is finished now, 4500 words or so. Now I'm embarking on Chapter 3.

Subject: can't concentrate.
Knackered after that shift last night and amazed I've done even five hundred words today. Slept from 9-2 and then got up but wanted to spend family time so no writing time. Just spent the last two hours hunched over the laptop and pushed out that 580 words. I'm obviously much more productive in the mornings.

Subject: just going to work.
So under target the last few days because of lack of time not lack of motivation. Really frustrating. I'm going to leave for a night shift in about 10 minutes but hopefully will get some done tomorrow. Need to get my wordcount up or I'll start slipping below target.
I'm just archiving the last week's worth of postings to another page, here.

Subject: TENSE NERVOUS HEADACHE.
Headache probably related to too much getting up and writing in the morning and not enough sleep. But I've started my next chapter - barely made it to 100 words tonight but at least I know where I'm going with it and should be able to get into it tomorrow. I have to go to Cardiff in the morning but will be back in the afternoon, and I'm going to set the alarm again tomorrow for my early stint.
Had to do an assignment for my MA in writing this evening on Cunningham's The Hours which took an hour or so of my precious writing time. I was playing some soothing music but the sound of the washing machine is too distracting. I'm starting to sound depressive so I'll sign off now. I'm sure those sparrows were singing in Greek.
